Liquid Mud Paintings
27 January - 14 February
Preview: Friday 26 January 6 - 9pm

Slugtown are pleased to present Liquid Mud Paintings, a solo exhibition from Newcastle based artist Seb Trend. Liquid Mud Paintings is an installation of new works the artist has made over the past year at Ouseburn Pottery, Newcastle.

About the artist

Seb Trend was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1986 and graduated from Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK in 2008. Trend is living and working in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, based in the NewBridge Studios.

Through a painting process akin to alchemy Trend liquifies and manipulates images, moving photograph emulsion around like paint. His work concerns states of the ‘in-between’: molten and solid, representation and abstraction, the permanent and momentary. Most recently he has been using slips, oxides, carbonates and glazes to produce paintings transformed by a hidden alchemy at 1260°C. Through his work Trend continues to mix associations of the photograph, the painting and the object.
